The Choral Project, founded by Artistic Director Daniel Hughes in 1996, has been hailed by San Jose Mercury News as “a Bay Area jewel,” stating that “there is nothing subtle about why this is one of the best choirs you will ever hear.” This group of multi-talented singers has earned an outstanding reputation for performing high-level choral literature and bridging the gap between text and music, singer and spectator. The 56-voice ensemble has performed throughout the world in concert performances and choral festivals to great acclaim. They are widely recognized for presenting and preserving great works of choral literature from a wide range of traditions from around the world that express the region’s diversity. The group is equally committed to innovative and dramatic presentations in concert, as well as promoting the choral art through the premieres of new works.

𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙬 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙙 is a modern-day oratorio-told through music, poetry, and singing-that reflects on and responds to the devastating event that led to Matthew Shepard's heartbreaking death. But his life and legacy are more than his inhumane suffering, and that too is compassionately explored in this groundbreaking work by Craig Hella Johnson. This year marks 25 years since the murder o...

About The Choral Project
Переглядів 7953 роки тому
From time to time, the uninitiated ask us, "What's The Choral Project about?" We think this video we created last year in preparation for GALA Choruses' quadrennial choral event sums it up succinctly. Because of the pandemic, that event sadly got canceled. But music is not canceled! And neither are we.

This is a real celebration of singing.
Beautiful ❤
So heavenly
Beautiful!
I sang this piece in my high school choir at Nevada Union high school in Grass Valley, CA. Our choral director was one of the absolute best - the late Don Bagget.
So beautiful. What an arrangement and a performance🙏
Sondheim's requiem to accepting diversity and ending ethnocentric conflict as a solution. Perfectly performed. Bravo.
❤
This is great!
Bravo! Beautiful presentation and a wonderful way to invite the Spirit of the Lord.
Great job. Love the orchestral bells. Only ever heard it with handbells.
Good memories ❤
I remember the templar Knights 🙏 it sounds like to be a strong Christians 💪
Thank you for this sweet spot in my day! GREAT job!
Remind me, please, of the connection of this song to the Church of the Brethern. I have a friend who grew up in that faith tradition, and I wanted to have the story straight in order to share the song with her. Thank you!
Oh my gosh, that was lovely! 🙏
It was an honor and a pleasure creating the choreography for this masterpiece. Thank you , Daniel for forwarding choral director's inquiries to me .
❤
Wonderful. Thank you from a Rhymney "boy".
I’m a newbie to choir and I’m soprano and we’re singing this for a concert! (I’m only 7th grade lol) anyone have any tips on how to practice this?
Good job!!!!
This was great !
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
A whimsical little song
Man I listen to this like 10x a month. So amazing
Incredible!!
So good so good so good
imponente !!!! lo que se estan perdiendo muchos !!!
Wow wow wow - so good!!!! Praise God!!
Absolutely beautiful.
Wow!
Genocide
Why doesn't this video have more views.
That is a perfect rendition of the best arrangement of Ain't a that Good News. Spot on!!!! Exactly how it is supposed to be done.
I would harbor a lot of different people but this created a problem for me when the person I was helping used me. Now he wants money for drugs and rides so he can buy drugs. I tell him no and he still keeps asking. How can I know when "harboring" [helping] someone will become a problem? He refuses to stay at the Rescue Mission and is currently sleeping outdoors, homeless. Harboring someone is a great idea but what if they don't respect you.
It's hypnotic. But it seems like a manipulative work.
I miss singing with TCP. Daniel is a MASTER at his craft and it shows. I hope to go back one day!
Very nice performance. Thank you.
chills
Some of the soprano voices are absolutely beautiful!!
Great song, great performance, but I don't see the point of making walk the singers like if they were in some sort of esoteric or initiatic ceremony… It's a little ridiculous… Jesus isn't even there.
You have to be in the church to realize the acoustic effect it creates when singers walk up to the front from the side.
We sang this song in High School for our Concert Chior at state competition, our choir director showed us this exact video before we started learning the song so we could get a feel for how it should be sung, it brought tears to my eyes with how beautiful you sang it. It definitely helped us know how to sing it with the perfect reverence and soul.
I'll be singing this song for my sophomore year of high school and I can't stop listening to this haunting song. The chorus with the hand movements, the soloists, and the men section! Every single part of this song is extremely well composed. Whoever this Matthew Culloton guy is, he is a legend 🙌 👏.
Beautiful, but not the song I was expecting
Gorgeous piece!! Practically a religious experience…
BEAUTIFUL
This is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard. Bless you all. Thank you.
